With Great Power Comes Great Responsibility
To my new President:
Mr. President, I took you seriously when you told me in your Inaugural Address that, “We are transferring power from Washington, D.C. and giving it back to you, the people.”
You talked about the carnage being perpetrated by a corrupted Government, on the American People, and you said, “This American carnage stops right here and stops right now.”
As an American Citizen, empowered by my duty, as assigned to me in the founding document of our nation,The Declaration of Independence, I say that If you are a man of his word, then I am confident that, when you look at what is really going on with the Water Protectors who are standing at and with Standing Rock, you will make a different decision about supporting the pipelines. If you do not, then your words mean nothing to We The People. And, I believe that is very important to you.
As an American Citizen, I sincerely want my President to honor his word, and his promises to me my fellow Americans.
At least, let there be a full Environmental Impact Study (EIS) conducted here, as court ordered. Let a real and full EIS be your/our investigation into the whole story about risk and rewards of this pipeline to the American People, and our children and grandchildren, who depend on fresh water resource downstream rivers, streams, and a huge extensive network of underground acquifers that end in New Orleans.
And please, watch carefully and don’t allow the typical legal shell game that wins a variance to be granted to DAPL, letting them avoid having to do a full EIS.
Let the assessment of the risk of current carnage, and future generational carnage, be examined carefully and understood, before you give any green lights to DAPL.
Be careful not to make run the real risk of perpetuating more carnage, thereby falling out of integrity of your word, and your clearly stated promise to the American People.
